Selma 'goes nuts' with blonde hairstyle
A lot of girls get themselves a brand new
hairstyle and a whole new look when a relationship ends.
But one of the most dramatic new hairstyles seen recently has to be on Hollywood actress Selma Blair, who has swapped her usually long, dark and sultry locks for a short blonde pixie cut.
The star of Legally Blonde, who divorced her musician and actor husband Ahmet Zappa, son of legendary musician Frank Zappa, in November, admits that her new look is a drastic one.
And she claims that her newly-shorn hair looks so extreme that at first it made people think that she was suffering from a serious illness, World Entertainment News Network reports.
The 34-year-old said: "People think I've had brain surgery! I went nuts with the hair. I wanted the old Linda Evangelista haircut from the George Michael video days, but I got a little carried away!"
With British style icon Victoria Beckham also recently swapping long dark hair for a short blonde bob in preparation for her move to the US, it seems that this could be one of the major looks of 2007.
Selma Blair admitted last month that as well as a new haircut, she has a new man and is dating 27-year-old model and actor Matthew Felker.
Bet Lynch named worst soap character haircut in poll.
Coronation Street's Bet Lynch has been voted the soap character with the worst haircut in history in a new survey for a haircare brand.
The poll for Pantene found that the barmaid's distinctive platinum blonde beehive-style look, which no doubt required industrial quantities of sculpting wax and hair curlers, was not a favourite with viewers.
Bet Lynch, played by actress Julie Goodyear, first appeared in the long-running soap in 1966, taking a welding job, before reappearing in 1970 and starting as a barmaid at the Rovers Return, becoming infamous for her choice of dangly earrings as well as her haircut.
Coronation Street's unpopular hair trends also secured its characters second and third place in the poll, the Manchester Evening News reports.
The brunette bowl haircut complete with split ends sported by Gail Platt, played by actress Helen Worth, earned her second place, while in third place came Curly Watts, ironically-named for his straight and lank hair.
Meanwhile, another character who favours the platinum blonde look, EastEnders' Pat Butcher, came fourth, while Coronation Street's Janice Battersby was voted fifth-worst thanks to her short brown cut.
